Four Points To Acquiring Courage

How do we obtain the courage we need to navigate everyday battles through to life’s big challenges?  Here are four tips.

1.  Firmly Decide

We must firmly decide to obtain courage.  Courage comes from will, not emotions. We must make up our mind to be bold, to have courage.

We must keep a sound mind once we have decided. We do not go back, get confused, or be double minded.   Know what you want and why.

As for doubt.  Well, belief is the sure overcomer of doubt.  Know what you believe and why.

Fear may come knocking.  Belief again is the overcomer of fear, it empowers us, underpins our will to act and or react, and ensures we will try. Don’t allow Fear a foothold in.

2.  Faith and Patience

Faith and patience are power twins.

Patience is a working power. When faith tries to waver, patience comes to faith’s aid to make it stand. The power of patience is necessary to undergird faith.

James 1:2 “the trying of your faith develops patience”

Patience without faith has no power to call into reality the things desired.

Hebrews 11: 1 “faith is the substance of things we hope for the things yet to be seen”

Faith without patience will, many times, fail to stand firm on what we are believing for. It will try to give up and quit before we receive.

The traditional view of patience is just putting up with something, “knuckling under” or to be satisfied with whatever comes our way. But patience is a confident expectation. It is a real force, and one that must be developed.

3.  Find Supporters

Find those that will cheer you on, and who will hold you accountable to what you are standing for, and who stand with you.  If possible, find like-minded people who have accomplished what you are standing for.  They encourage us.

Watch out for others and or your own negative words and actions, as these can halt courage.

4.  Be Still

Make time to simply be still.  Ponder on some truth, revelation had, or inspirational verse. Listen to your gut the voice within you.

Take time to pray – decree – declare

Close the windows in your mind, the noise, overwhelm, distractions, anxieties. All the concerns of the world and open your heart up to God’s love.  Discover inner joy and peace and have a heart of gratefulness.

Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
